Guest Artist Feature: Shanna Vineyard
After receiving an email with some seriously jaw-dropping projects designed by Shanna Vineyard, I knew I wanted to share her gorgeous projects with all you. So we sent her a few collections to design with and after she had completed the projects I asked her how she liked working with the collections. She replied "I lovvvvve those Hippos!! You'd be CRAZY not to! I also fell in love with the colors of the Ornamental Holiday collection! I love to antique my papers using ink or sandpaper and this line was so fun to sand!"
As part of our feature on Shanna, the PS design team came up with a few questions to find out more about this talented designer. Below, are her responses to each question as well as a few additional projects she created using a few of our newer collections. We hope you enjoy this talented designer as much as we have.
Q: What is your favorite technique or item that you use on projects most often?
A: I have several but you will most assuredly find some machine stitching, chipboard or some sort and rub-ons always on my projects. LOVE those things!
Q: What are your favorite Paper Salon products or collection(s)?
A: Well, I have only recently discovered Paper Salon and so far it's the Hip-hip-hooray line. How can you resist those adorable hippos? I can't wait to play with more Paper Salon products...especially the stamps!
Q: What is your creating space like?
A: Well...our home is not large so I find it best to use my kitchen table! I have had my own scrap-room in the past but am actually grateful for my limited space because it keeps me from over-spending! I found out the hard way that the more room you have to fill up with scrappy supplies...that's exactly what you'll do! I focus a lot on using what I buy as soon as I get it! I have a hutch next to my table that I use to store supplies in jars and baskets. This has worked really well for me and it looks cute. It needs to since anyone can see it when they visit our home. (See photos below- click thumbnail for larger images)
Q: How would you describe your style?
A: Oh man...this is the hardest question for a scrapper like me! I love everything! I love that you can look through my albums and get a completely different style or feel from one page to the next. You never know what you're going to get! I love to try new things, love clean and simple, eclectic, but mostly love the shabby chic look. One thing I am not is a very graphic scrapper. But I love it all!
Q: Can you share one of your favorite paper crafting organizational tips?
A: My favorite would be to have my ribbon storage in jars. Until I started using jars...I rarely used a lot of ribbon on my projects. What's a layout or card without some ribbon? I love that I can keep it arranged by color and when I need some I just pull it out...find what I need and just stuff it all back in. Easy Peasy! And it LOOKS cute to boot! Can't beat functional AND CUTE!
Q: What is your favorite color to create your projects?
A: I have 5 girls. Need I say more? LOL It's a GOOD thing I LOVE pink! Every last shade of it! I love all the colors but pink definitely has a special place in my heart.
Q: How long have you been paper crafting?
A: I have been paper crafting for 9+ years but my first album was created in High School using nothing but some colored paper and Bart Simpson stamps. Scrapbook has come a long way and I have thoroughly enjoyed the ride.
Q: How do you overcome creative blocks?
A: I hit the local scrapbook stores or craft stores! With all the new products CONSTANTLY hitting the market...how can you not help but be inspired??? I also love the inspiration I find in online galleries and blogs! There are some extremely talented people in this industry that are so very generous with their time and talents! One last thing I have to mention that helps me with creative blocks are photos! Since the photos themselves that I work with is usually what inspires my page...It's time for a fresh batch of photos!! When I get photos printed that I absolutely love...the layout always seems to come together easier!
